1. What is a Crochet-Along?

A Crochet-Along (CAL) is a fun crochet challenge where you and fellow crafters work on the same project, following along with a pattern that’s released in stages each week.

It’s a fantastic way to dive into a project, with loads of chances to pick up new techniques as you go. Plus, it’s a heartwarming experience to join a community of like-minded creatives, all crocheting the same project together!

The #BeYourOwnStarCAL project features a stunning and one-of-a-kind shawl, designed by Krisztina from K.A.M.E. Crochet. It’s packed with interesting techniques and textures that will keep you engaged.

3. When is the Crochet-Along?

Mark your calendars for March 19th, when we’ll kick off the first part of the pattern together. The whole project spans 5 weeks, with a new part of the pattern released every Wednesday. You’ll get to work with some amazing yarn, learn exciting new stitches, and – of course – enjoy the process of making your very own one-of-a-kind shawl. ⭐

5. What skill level is required?

This Crochet-Along is created with the experienced crocheter in mind. So, if you're passionate about crocheting, love working with textures, and enjoy exploring different stitches, this project is totally up your alley! 😉 You can dive deeper into the techniques in this blog post.

The difficulty level remains the same throughout the entire pattern.

However, if you're a curious beginner with a sense of adventure, you’re still welcome to join! It’ll definitely be both a challenge and a lot of fun. Just make sure to set aside some extra time and patience. We promise your effort will be worth it in the end. In other words, you'll be shining like a star! 🌟

6. What's included in the kit?

The kit includes all the yarn and accessories you’ll need for the project – and maybe even a surprise or two. 🤭

While the #BeYourOwnStarCAL isn’t as mysterious as some of our past projects, we’re still keeping the yarn details under wraps for now – after all, a little surprise is always fun! 👀🎁

What we can share is that Krisztina has selected a yarn that’s perfect for shawls. It creates a gorgeous drape, and the textures stand out so beautifully. Plus, it’s easy to block once you’re done. The yarn’s varying thickness and stunning color transitions, which differ from skein to skein, will ensure that each participant’s project is completely unique. Pretty exciting, right? 🤩

Don’t forget: You’ll need your own crochet hook!

Of course, you’ll be using your favorite hook for a project like this one. ❤️

We suggest using a 4.00 mm hook, but be sure to crochet a swatch to check that your tension matches the pattern’s gauge.

7. How much does the kit cost?

We’ve kept it nice and simple! There’s just one kit (no tough decisions here 😅), and it’s priced at just $63 / £47 / 55 €. Get yours here 💸

9. How can I prepare for the Crochet-Along?

While you wait for the project to start, there are a few things you can work on. This includes getting your crochet tension just right and practicing some of the stitches you'll need for the project. 😉

Absolutely! Post a photo or reel on Instagram or Facebook by April 27th, 2025, and you’ll be entered into a draw to win a $100 / £80 / 100 € gift card. 😍
